What are cookies?

The website owned by MADERAS BENIGÁNIM, S.A.U. (hereinafter “the website” or “the site”) uses cookies and/or similar technologies that store and retrieve information while you browse.

In general, these technologies may serve various purposes — for example, recognizing you as a user, obtaining information about your browsing habits, or personalizing the way content is displayed.

Users can configure their browsers to notify and reject the installation of cookies sent by the website without affecting their ability to access its content. However, doing so may reduce the quality or functionality of the website.

The specific uses we make of these technologies are described below.

What types of cookies exist?

Cookies, depending on their duration, can be divided into:

Session cookies Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. Typically used to store information necessary only during the provision of a requested service. They expire when the browser is closed.
Persistent cookies Data remains stored on the user’s device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie’s purpose or until manually deleted.

Based on ownership, cookies can be classified as:

First-party cookies Sent to the user’s device from a computer or domain managed by the website owner itself and used to provide the requested service.
Third-party cookies Sent to the user’s device from a computer or domain not managed by the website owner, but by another entity that processes the data collected through cookies.

Additionally, according to their purpose, cookies can be classified as follows:

Technical cookies Enable the user to navigate a website, platform, or application and use various options or services within it, including session identification, traffic control, or communication of data.
Preference or personalization cookies Remember your settings for tools within the services, eliminating the need to reconfigure them each time you visit. Examples include volume controls or video playback speeds compatible with your browser.
Volume settings of video or audio players.
Video playback speeds compatible with your browser.

Geolocation cookies Used to determine your geographic location when a service is requested. These cookies are entirely anonymous and only used to tailor content to your region.

Registration cookies Registration cookies are created once the user has registered or subsequently logged in, and are used to identify the user within the services for the following purposes:
To keep the user logged in so that, if they close a service, the browser, or the computer, and later return to that service, they remain identified, thereby facilitating navigation without the need to log in again.
This functionality can be disabled if the user selects the “log out” option, which deletes the cookie. The next time the user accesses the service, they will need to log in again to be identified.
To verify whether the user is authorized to access certain services, for example, to participate in a contest.

Analytics or measurement cookies Each time a user visits a service, a tool from an external provider generates an analytics cookie on the user’s computer. This cookie, which is created only during the visit, will be used on future visits to the website’s services to anonymously identify the visitor. The main objectives pursued are:
To allow the anonymous identification of browsing users through the cookie (it identifies browsers and devices, not individuals), and thus to obtain an approximate count of the number of visitors and their trends over time.
To anonymously identify the most visited content, and therefore, the most attractive sections for users.
To determine whether the user accessing the site is a new visitor or a returning one.
Important: Unless the user chooses to register for a service on the website, the cookie will never be linked to any personal data that could identify them.
These cookies will be used solely for statistical purposes, helping to optimize the user experience on the site.

Behavioral advertising cookies This type of cookie makes it possible to expand the information related to the advertisements displayed to each anonymous user within the website’s services. Among other things, they store data such as the duration or frequency of ad display positions, user interaction with those ads, and browsing patterns and/or user behaviour, as these help to build a profile of advertising interests.
In this way, they allow the delivery of advertising tailored to the user’s interests.

Third-party advertising cookies In addition to the advertising managed directly by the website within its services, the website provides advertisers with the option to deliver ads through third parties (“AdServers”).
In this way, these third parties may store cookies sent from the website’s services to users’ browsers and access the data stored in them.
